When: Sept. 22, 2001 Where: The Happy Dragon S. 14th Abilene, TX Artist: Chad What & Where: Lizard, Right Ankle Why: I always wanted a tattoo. Doug had started calling me "Lizard" and that really took off with me. Size & Cost: 3 1/2" (with the tail) by 1 1/4" $75 Memories: It was a Saturday. We were the first ones in the door (there was quite a line) with our tattoos picked out. Mom got a rose w/ a heart. Didn't hurt as bad as I thought... Doug was pissed. |

When: January 5, 2002 Where: The Happy Dragon S. 14th Abilene, TX Artist: Jeff What & Where: Butterfly, Left Shoulder Why: I'm really gullible. I saw that bit from "A Walk to Remember" where the girl showed her butterfly and after that my shoulder practically screamed for another tattoo. I'm quite addicted... Size & Cost: 1 1/4" by 1 1/4" $60 Memories: Got it the minute I had my school money from that semester (the Happy Dragon is practically across the street from my school). Mom was out of town so I had to go by myself. Jeff had a much lighter touch than Chad... barely hurt at all. Doug dealt with it (maybe because it's so much smaller than the others.)

When: June 19, 2002 Where: The Happy Dragon S. 14th Abilene, TX Artist: Chad What & Where: Mirror Image Kitties, Lower Back Why: This is the tattoo I wanted all along...A tribute to all the kitties I've ever had and will ever have. 'Why didn't you get it first?', you may ask. I didn't see it the first time. The second time, I promised to get something small. Plus, I was chicken because I heard it hurts so bad there (& it DOES). I gave up to it's siren call... I had to have it. Size & Cost: 8 1/2" by 3" $160 Memories: Jeff was off for the rest of the week or I totally would have gotten him. I probably endured a little more than I had to at Chad's hand, but he's a sweet guy so I didn't mind. Almost 3 hours of exquisite pain. Mom had gotten her 2nd two days previous so she was right there with me knowing exactly how I felt. I finally feel satisfied with the number of tattoos I have. Doug wasn't happy, but he didn't leave me like he said he would...:-) It took him three weeks before he could look at it. |

When: February 17, 2004 Where: Pigment of Your Imagination, Rebecca Ln, Abilene, TX Piercer: Steve(n)? Don't recall. Was just a kid who'd been piercing for 6 months. What & Where: Standard belly button piercing. Why: I had my belly button pierced previously by Lenny at "Too Cool Bodypiercing" (inside the Happy Dragon.) To make a long story short: he messed it up royally. It was horribly crooked & too deep. It kept getting infected & was constantly painful. I had it for 8 months before I took it out. Size & Cost: 3/8"... I think it was $20 Memories: My friend Tara told me to check out this studio. I hadn't heard of it before. I went in and looked at some of their piercer's pictures. They suggested I talk to him & to the person he was busy piercing right then. So I waited. The woman getting pierced showed me her new piercing and it was perfectly fine & straight. The clencher was that she was there for the exact reason I was: repiercing a botched navel piercing care of Lenny. So I told them I wanted to do it. The kid (with less experience and ultimately more talent than the guy who'd been doing it 12 times as long as he had) was quick & efficient. It hurt more since there was scar tissue there, but in the long haul it barely hurt and healed almost immediately.
